SPECIFIC GRAVITY

Sample pieces that are taken from basalt plates by breaking, are granulated in breaking and granulating laboratories till it becomes 0.2 mm granule size and an experiments are applied on this micronized sized sample in order to determine the gravity weight by pycnometer. Average gravity weight of the basalt is determined as 2.77 through the experiments.

POROSITY

Visible porosity (porosity degree) is determined as 2.57 % through the analyses appropriate for TS 699 1987.

WATER ABSORPTION RATIO

Water absorption ratio by weight is found as 0.995 through the experiment that is applied on experiment sample that is prepared in accordance with TS 1097-6 March 2002 standards.

MASS LOSS AFTER FREEZE AND THAW

% Value of Mass Loss after Freeze and thaw that is found through the experiment that is applied on experiment sample that is prepared in accordance with TS EN 1367-6 / November 2001 standards is determined as 1.14.

UNIAXIAL COMPRESSION STRENGTH

Cores are taken from 15x15x15 cm3 sized cube samples that are taken from operational area, in "Core and Stone Cutting — Polishing Laboratories" by core taking machine and 2.5-3 L/D (length/diameter) ratio samples are prepared by being cut and trimmed of these core samples. Average compression strengths of basalt samples are determined as 760 kg/cm2 through the calculations that are fulfilled on the values that are appeared after the experiments that are applied by computer controlled ELE Autoset 3000 automatic press on 5 pieces of Core samples.

BENDING RIGIDITY

Bending rigidity of the basalt samples are determined as 96.5 kg/cm2 through the experiments that are applied on samples that are prepared by being cut from the basalt plates that are chosen as experiment sample, in the size of 10x20x2 cm in "Core and Stone Cutting —Polishing Laboratories" by test device.

ABRASION LOSS BY FRICTION (BOEHME'S METHOD)

Boehme surface abrasion loss value is determined as 5.56 cm3/50 cm2 after calculations that are fulfilled through the values that are found as a result of tests that are applied on test samples in the size of 71x71x71 mm surface area, taken from cubes in Boehme Surface Abrasion Device with abrasive powder.
